Colocation and Datacentre
Our racks & servers are located at Global Switch Sydney, one of the largest Datacentres in Australia.
Key features include:
- A convenient location on the edge of the Central Business District (CBD)
- 34 MW of power to the datacentre
- High levels of customer satisfaction from Australia’s leading telecommunications, government and financial institutions
- Excellent efficiency delivers low energy costs to customers

Infrastructure and Monitoring
Global Switch uses robust and resilient infrastructure and has state of the art monitoring systems. The entire critical infrastructure is managed and monitored using highly sophisticated Building Management Systems which enable the on-site facilities management team to scrutinise all key components – from power and cooling to security and access. These processes are there to identify any discrepancies in the power, environmental or security performance of the data centres. This monitoring is backed up by 24x7 security and mechanical and electrical support teams.
Connectivity
The facilities have direct internet connectivity with all major carriers. Direct internet connectivity is critical because unlike servers hosted with an ISP, performance will not decrease during busy periods of the day. At Global Switch, clients are able to establish direct connections to a vast portfolio of service providers giving clients the flexibility to diversify service providers as business needs evolve.
Air Conditioning / Cooling
In our the datacentre customer equipment is protected in a well-managed, highly resilient environment with primary cooling infrastructure designed to N+1 and linked into Building Management Systems. Global Switch is expert in creating environments that maximise cooling efficiency and will work with clients to optimise equipment lay-out, balance critical airflows and deliver constant temperatures and humidity.
Security
Through a combination of fit-for-purpose design, rigorous operational procedures and robust building fabric, Global Switch ensures that security is not compromised at any time. Customers benefit from the knowledge there are sophisticated alarm systems, closed circuit TV surveillance and 24x7 on-site security through to advance warning communications from government and cyber organisations as well as rigid monitoring and maintenance.
Disaster Recovery
All servers are automatically backed up every night to a physically remote server. Incremental backups are also done at different intervals.
Redundancy
The facilities offer complete redundancy meaning there are spare units or alternate supply sources for every live system. This includes redundant Internet connectivity, redundant power supply (including backup UPS generators), redundant air conditioning and redundant routers.
Fire Control
The Sydney data centre includes a multi-aspirated fire detection and warning system, analogue addressable fire detection systems in all areas, Inergen gas suppression systems in an N+N arrangement, and dry pipe sprinkler systems to all data suites to further back up the Inergen Gas system.
